James Neal joined Schott Mauss & Associates, PLLC, in the early part of 2011 and practices in workers' compensation. He received bachelor degrees in political science and sociology from the University of Iowa in 2004. He later graduated from Drake University Law School in May 2009. While in law school, he twice interned with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and was 2009 recipient of the Robert J. Kromminga Award for excellence in client representation and advocacy in Drake's Criminal Defense Program.
James grew up in the Nebraska Sandhills. His mother still lives on the land his grandparents ranched from the early years of the Great Depression until the late days of the 1980's. He moved to Iowa to attend school. Although he enjoys making trips back to the family ranch, he now considers Iowa home. When not helping Iowa's workers, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, running, and being under the sun at a baseball game. James currently serves on the board of Passageway, a nonprofit organization that provides support to individuals with mental illness.
